Spent the last hour of 2008 and the first hour of 2009 in the heartlands with the other neighbours living in the area. Went for the "Punggol East Year-End Countdown Party 08/09" with Mummy, meimei, minmin and aiai.

All the while there weren't enough chairs for everyone, so I had to keep scanning around for red chairs while standing and watching the performances. First I koped 3 chairs for the 5 of us, but then not enough. In the end managed to kop 6! Mwhaha~ Asked a guy whether the seat beside him is occupied, he looked at me and duno gave a nod or shook his head. Please luh, I AM NOT A MONSTER CAN. The most I only wanted to kop the chair la, so scared for what. =.= And he has the chao ah beng face. Well, this is a heartland celebration mah. Hurhur.

Then went to ask this small girl whether the chair beside her is occupied. The maid said, "No." The girlgirl said "Cannot." =.= Hello, can understand my language or not? How come answer so weird de. But nvm. So I asked the girlgirl who is the one sitting there.

"Mummy, ah ma, meimei..."

Siao eh. One chair can seat how many people??!

Ok fine. I dun kop from kids. Later they say I bully her. And she kept looking in my direction after I returned to my seat behind. =.= Fine lor.

After awhile finally can sit down properly with enough chairs le. But it's already nearing midnight and everyone's ready for the countdown and standing up. So when the MCs said, "C'mon everyone! Let's all stand up!" the 5 of us still sat there, resting our legs. We watched so many performances while standing up before that lor. There was a magic show by Bosco, the magician who was featured recently in the local movie "My Magic", and some random Malay artiste who sang JJ's "After A Thousand Years" in both Chinese and Malay, we didn't know how to sing the Malay version so we just sang the Chinese version and sway sway sway. Johnathan Leong turned up. Many fans kept screaming. X__X And Abigail Chay (Singapore's Xu Chunmei) came too, I think she acted as some alien then had a baby or smth. We weren't there that early to see the whole plot. But yeah, they were urging us to help make babies for Singapore, for our country. Haha... Really so heartland lor. And they think after the countdown people will have mood to think about such things? All go home sleep lor! And all the songs, surely must use at least 2 languages to sing de. So Singapore~

Then came the grand finale. Fireworks! Could see all the people living in the flats there all went to their windows and watched the beauty with us.

If there's anything that can sustain an idiotic smile of Shuyi for 3 full minutes, it will be fireworks. ^__^ I videoed the whole thing down, when I pressed the stop button then I realised I had been smiling all along without noticing. Whoaa~ Is really the feeling of happiness that came straight from the bottom of my heart.

The MCs kept urging us to make wishes as the clock ticked closer to the new year. I kind of went crazy and told Simin "I want GPA 5.0!", then turned to my other side and told Aileen "I want my scholarship!" LOL!~ They just sha xiao at me, think I siao already haha~ But of course, when we all shouted "ZERO!" all I wanted was...

Haha... Cannot say, if not Boh Bak Geh. Hehhehheh.

Taufik came after the countdown and sang three songs in English and Malay. Agreed with Simin that the Malay song sounded nicer, although we didn't really understand the song.

And finally the lucky draw. Jia Liao Liao Lor! Not every lucky haha. They gave away an Acer notebook (I dun wan Acer de lor =.=) and a 32" LCD TV... Walao, my desktop monitor only 17" I think v big liao. 32 inches wor!!! So lucky sia that woman.

And we saw a very heartland scene. At the end of it all, and they knew the grand prize isn't theirs, all the people just stood up from the seats and went off in huge groups. Poor MCs... Want to get them to sit down also cannot. Haha~ It's good to see the real faces of Singaporeans! And yes, the rubbish on the floor is like wow. Well and the kiasuness of koping the chairs even when they are not sitting during the period before countdown... So heartland... So Singapore.

Haha~ I like! Cuz it's very real, as compared to all the polished images of Singaporeans at the Marina countdown on TV.

And yes. My fireworks! ^__^ So pretty lorrrrrr~ I had a very deep realisation while counting down to the new year this time. No matter where the celebration is, as long as you have your loved ones with you, everything will be beautiful.. And perfect.

I love tonight's countdown. And I'm grateful (:
